After decades, the Streamlight Survivor has been redesigned in response to firefighter’s desire for a low-profile bezel that doesn’t interfere with gear and equipment. Previous generations of the Survivor measured 2 ¼” in depth at the bezel while the new, slimmer Low Profile Survivor measures only 1 ¼” in depth. The result is one full inch (45%) less than previous generations and one less inch to interfere with your gear and use of any equipment while on-scene.
As a result of the low profile bezel design, the new Survivor features a custom designed optic with optional, interchangeable Smoke Cutter plugs that allow you to customize the beam to your preference without changing the light’s output.
1. The black plug creates a tighter beam while significantly reducing peripheral light.
2. The amber plug reduces peripheral light to minimize eye fatigue caused by glare.
3. As always, by not using either plug, you get the traditional Survivor beam.
Streamlight also re-designed the clip and D-ring assembly to reduce the amount of interference caused by the Survivor’s attachment to turnout gear. The new design allows the Low Profile Survivor to lay flatter than the previous generations. The assembly still features a strong spring-loaded clip designed to securely garb onto belts and gear. The D-ring maintains its forward hanging orientation but once again positions the Survivor closer and flatter than prior generations.
