Police said at least two suspects were under arrest at the Cielo Vista Mall and many people have been killed in a mass shooting.

Aug. 3--"Multiple" shooters opened fire Saturday at an El Paso mall packed with back-to-school shoppers, killing "multiple" people and injuring at least 18, police and officials confirmed.

Police said at least two suspects were under arrest at the Cielo Vista Mall after the lunchtime attack in the west Texas city. The mayor's chief of staff said multiple people were killed.

Shoppers at a Walmart and Dillard's department ran in panic after the suspects started shooting inside the busy shopping center. Video posted on Twitter showed customers at one department store being evacuated with their hands up.

"Hands in the air!" an officer shouts in the footage. Minutes after police reported making the arrest, shoppers calmly walked from the stores. "There is no active shooter at this time," said Sgt. Enrique Carillo of the El Paso Police Department.

Mass shootings are common in the United States. On Sunday, a teenage gunman opened fire with a an assault-style rifle on the crowd at a food festival in Northern California, killing three people before fatally shooting himself
