Florida firefighters had to scale down an elevator shaft to rescue a man who was trapped in a stuck elevator Wednesday.
Fort Lauderdale technical rescue teams responded to a call just before noon of an elevator caught between the first and fifth floors of an office building, the fire department said in an online statement. Crews were unable to access the elevator car between floors.
A rope system was set up a the scene, and a rescuer was lowered to the car, the fire department stated. A harness was strapped on the man in the elevator, and he and the rescuer were pulled more than 50 feet up the elevator shaft to safety.
No one was hurt in the incident, according to the fire department.
