Los Angeles City Firefighters used a helicopter normally deployed to combat wildfires to rescue a half-ton horse that was stranded in a ravine Friday.

Crews were called in just after 6:40 a.m. after the 30-year-old male horse—named Sunny—had fallen about 10-feet down a hillside, the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Two attempts to get Sunny upright were unsuccessful, and that's when firefighters called in the helicopter.

Before starting the rescue operation, Sunny was sedated and the aircraft's water-dropping tankused to put out wildfires—was removed, according to KABC-TV. Rescuers were then able to secure the horse in a harness and fly it out of its predicament.

Following the rescue, Sunny was returned to his corral, where he will be thoroughly examined by a veterinarian, the Daily News added. According to KTLA-TV, Sunny was up and walking after his helicopter ride, only dehydrated and tired from the experience.
