Michigan firefighters rescued a 71-year-old woman who accidentally drove her car into a partially frozen creek.

The incident happened Thursday at a park in Frenchtown Township, WXYZ-TV reports. According to Frenchtown Township Chief Wendy Stevens, the woman became disoriented and ended up in the freezing water, which was about five or six inches below her car window.

"(It) has to be 30 degrees, high 20s. We had about four or five inches of ice on top of it. They had to break the ice away to get to her," Stevens told WXYZ.

The woman, who Stevens said suffers from a mental condition that caused her disorientation, was taken to the hospital for hypothermia following the rescue. Video of the rescue was captured by Ryan Mink and Shane Neckel, who posted the footage online.
