PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A kindergartner was killed Thursday when a fold-up table in a school cafeteria fell on him.
The accident at the Hamilton Disston School happened as youngsters were leaving the cafeteria.
The name of the 5-year-old was not immediately released.
The table was folded in half and was being stored upright on casters, said Paul Hanson, spokesman for the Philadelphia school district.
It wasn't immediately known how many children witnessed the accident Hanson said. About 120 pupils had eaten in the cafeteria just before the accident, and the boy's class was the last to leave.
Counselors were made available for students.
``All children react differently. Some will withdraw. We have to react to those who withdraw as well as those who act out,'' said Vern Trent, an adviser for the district.
