Del. Firefighter Struck at Pa. Crash Scene

A Wilmington Manor volunteer firefighter was struck while assisting another motorist who was involved in an accident.

Daniel Callaway, 31, was on his way to the fire station when he came across a crash on Interstate 95in Tinicum Township, Pa. around 4:30 a.m.

When he came to the aid of the driver, he was struck by another vehicle, WACU reported.

The driver stopped at the scene.

Initially he was listed as critical at Crozer Chester Medical Center. He was then upgraded to stable condition.

The firefighter's father, Raymond Callaway Sr., said "We believe he's going to be fine."

Callaway works as an EMT at Urgent Ambulance Services and also volunteers with the  Belvedere Volunteer Fire Company in Delaware.
