Los Angeles County fire Capt. Wayne Stuart Habell, who went missing last Monday, was found dead Saturday near his SUV in Montecito.

A Los Angeles County fire captain who went missing early last week was found dead over the weekend.

KTLA reports that a body was found Saturday in a canyon near an SUV registered to Los Angeles County Capt. Wayne Stuart Habell, who had been missing since Monday.

Although investigators have not released the identity of the person found, IAFF Local 1014—which represents Los Angeles County's firefighters—announced that the man who was found was Capt. Habell. The Los Angeles County Fire Department also confirmed the man was Habell.

An official cause of death has not been announced, but Sunday's statement by IAFF 1014 mentions PTSD and depression.

"We cannot afford to remain silent any longer—don’t let depression live in the shadows," the statement reads. "Each day our members battle Post Traumatic Stress Injuries and Cumulative Stress Injuries. We need to bring these issues into the light to ensure people get the help they need. If you or someone you know needs help, please seek out resources and get help. Don’t be afraid to talk to someone. Take care of each other!"

The Los Angeles County Fire Department says the 13-year veteran leaves behind a wife and three children.
