Jan. 2, 2019
The Bath firefighters were hospitalized for burns and smoke inhalation suffered battling the New Year's Day blaze. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

A fire in a Bath row house sent three firefighters to the hospital on New Year’s Day.

Bath fire Chief Charles Tully said firefighters responded to a fire at a row home on the 600 block of East Main Street at about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Two residents in the home were able to get out safely, but their dog died in the fire, he said.

He said three firefighters were taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill for burns and smoke inhalation. One was released and the other two were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest to be monitored overnight, he said. He said their injuries weren’t life-threatening.

The fire took a little more than two hours to extinguish, Tully said.

He said the residents have been displaced and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
