Sep. 13 -- A man who served at the Acme Fire Station near Rush Springs died in a collision near Ft. Cobb on Thursday afternoon.
The accident was not related to a fire incident. Jeffrey Blaine Alexander, 21, of Marlow, hit a semi-truck that ran a stop sign. He was thrown from the pickup and pinned under the vehicle, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene by Apache EMS. He was transported by Ray and Martha's Funeral Home to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office.
The Grady County Fire Department posted a statement on their Facebook. "Blaine was an asset to his community serving out of the Acme Station. He will be missed by the GCFD family, please keep his blood and extended family in your thoughts as they make this journey."
Earl Alexander, 47, who was a passenger, was not injured. During the collision the semi-truck overturned and landed on its passenger side. The driver, Chad Payne, 40, of Altus, was not injured.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that the roadway was closed for seven hours and 10 minutes, between 1:35 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.
