NY Fire Association Receives Anonymous $10K Donation

Nov. 18, 2019
The donation, which was used to pay for a fit test machine, is the second time a family has anonymously donated to Bushnell's Basin Fire Association.

An anonymous donation to the Bushnell's Basin Fire Association will help keep firefighters safe while out protecting the community.

This is the second time that a local family has anonymously donated money to be used for protective equipment for firefighters.

This year, the department received a $10,000 donation that was used to buy a fit test machine called OHD Quantifit Respirator Fit Testing System. The system tests firefighter's masks so that they don't breathe in harmful chemicals.

"This is one way that we figured that we could help minimize the numbers, hopefully, of our firefighters getting cancer by verifying that the masks that we use fit properly and our people are protected" said Daniel Mack, President of Bushnell's Basin Fire Association.

The family approached the fire department a few months ago about making the anonymous donation. Last year, the same family donated money to buy 13 new defibrillators for the department. Bushell's Basin Fire Association is made up of volunteer firefighters.
