An Anne Arundel County firefighter died Sunday morning when his pickup crashed into a tree in Carroll County.

Firefighter Brent Monroe Hahn, 24, was driving on Route 27 just north of Sullivan Road near the town of Manchester, Maryland State Police said. He drove off the road and collided with a tree.

Police responded to the collision at 4:20 a.m. and discovered a silver Chevrolet Silverado had driven off the roadway. Hahn, a Manchester resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hahn had been working at the Brooklyn Park station for three years, a county Fire Department said.

“This is a difficult time for the Department and the family of FF Hahn,” the fire department said in an email.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
