Safe Fleet is pleased to announce that Eric Combs has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Fire, EMS & Industrial (FEI).

Eric replaces Toh Meng who starts his transition into partial retirement in July 2023. Eric will assume responsibility for the FEI product portfolio including the FRC, FoamPro, Elkhart Brass, and ROM brands.

Eric joined Safe Fleet with the 2015 acquisition of Elkhart Brass where he began his career in 2003 as a Design Engineer. He has held a variety of progressively senior positions during his tenure in Safe Fleet’s FEI business unit including leadership roles in Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Operations and Sales. In 2019 Eric assumed the role of VP Strategic Initiatives where he was responsible for leading the Safe Fleet strategic planning process. For the last two years, Eric has been responsible for leading the Safe Fleet Commercial Vehicle Video and Installation business. In this role, he led development of industry leading video safety solutions, integration of American Mobile Fleet Solutions, and was highly involved in successfully executing a video product installation project on one of the largest commercial fleets in North America.

“We are pleased to transition Eric back to the FEI team,” said Michael Schulte, President of Safe Fleet, “With his broad experience developing and executing market growth strategies, engineering, and new product development combined with market knowledge, Eric is a great asset to further strengthen our position as the leading supplier to the Fire, EMS & Industrial markets.”

Eric Combs replaces Toh Meng, Sr. Vice President Fire, EMS & Industrial group. “It is with mixed emotions that I share that Toh Meng had made the decision to begin the process of transitioning into retirement” said Schulte, “Toh is a titan of the fire industry. Since 1985, Toh has been an ever-present force within FRC, from the lines of team members outside his office door seeking his counsel and wisdom, to the industry changing technological innovations and relentless customer focus, to his persistent nurturing of the entrepreneurial spirit that is core to the organizational culture in Long Island and the larger FEI organization”.

Toh will begin transitioning to a part-time role with Safe Fleet in July. He will retain responsibility for overseeing FEI’s international sales, the ongoing development of our technical products, and advising on FEI strategy.
