3M Scott Announces NFPA 2018 Air-Pak X3 Pro

April 10, 2019
3M Scott’s Air-Pak X3 Pro SCBA reaches new levels of cleanability, comfort and connectivity, and meets NFPA performance requirements.

Monroe, NC – Building on the proven, trusted performance of the Air-Pak SCBA, 3M Scott Fire & Safety announces the extension of the Air-Pak X3 Pro platform with its latest NFPA 1981, 2018 Edition offering (approvals pending). With an unrelenting commitment to firefighter safety and a focus on exposure reduction, 3M Scott Fire & Safety engineered a product that enhances cleanability, comfort and connectivity, while meeting the performance requirements of the NFPA 1981 and NFPA 1982, 2018 Edition standards.

The Air-Pak X3 Pro combines high-performance material selection with an easy-to-remove harness for cleaning, decontamination and serviceability. With minimal water absorption, the harness assembly can be machine laundered to help with exposure reduction. The ability to launder the equipment at the fire station promotes better adherence to standard operating procedures and provides quick and easy access to the equipment when firefighters need to respond to the next call.

“As an industry leader, our role at 3M Scott Fire & Safety is not only to provide the best equipment to protect first responders, but to do our part to protect their long-term health,” said Jeff Emery, global business unit leader, SCBA and Fire Solutions for 3M Scott Fire & Safety. “We take that responsibility seriously and are committed to instituting change, not only for the firefighters of today, but for the firefighters of tomorrow.”

3M Scott Fire & Safety designed the Air-Pak X3 Pro to keep firefighters safe while providing a higher level of comfort. An enhanced shoulder harness design improves the ease of donning the SCBA, helping to minimize pressure points and reduce user fatigue. A naturally articulating waist pad provides the firefighter a greater range of motion, while transferring weight to the hips for a more balanced load. A proven regulator design offers low breathing resistance to help reduce user burden and improve operational efficiencies.

Offering enhanced electronics with Bluetooth® technology, the Air-Pak X3 Pro supports wireless connectivity for improved firefighter safety and fireground accountability. An electronic PAR feature allows incident command to reliably communicate with firefighters using the Scott Connect Monitor Pro software interface without creating additional radio traffic. Data

downloading and configuration changes are seamless using a wireless connection to smartphone devices

“3M Scott Fire & Safety remains committed to designing product solutions that make the firefighter’s job easier and safer, while also enabling future technology enhancements,” said Jason Cannon, U.S. fire marketing manager for 3M Scott. “With the Air-Pak X3 Pro, we are not only providing a solution to help fire departments address exposure reduction, but are enabling future compliance to the NFPA 2018 standard.”
