The incident involved 40 inmates at Alder Creek Conservation Camp in Klamath, and California corrections officers used pepper spray to break up the rioters.

Four people were hurt during a riot involving around 40 inmates at a northern California prison firefighting camp earlier this week.

The incident happened Monday at Alder Conservation Camp in Klamath, a minimum-security facility where around 100 inmates are used to fight wildfires in Del Norte and Humboldt counties, KOVR-TV reports. A staffer was hit in the chest and head and three inmates suffered minor injuries before guards used pepper spray to break up the disturbance.

It's not known what sparked the incident, and rioters were moved to Pelican Bay State Prison, which is nearly 30 miles north in Crescent City, according to KOVR.
