Storms Damage Vacant Dallas Fire Station

No one was hurt when severe weather put a hole in the roof of a Dallas Fire-Rescue firehouse that had been closed for renovations.

Storms damaged a vacant Dallas Fire Department station Sunday, according to the city's firefighters union.

Photos from the Dallas Firefighters Association, Local 58, show a hole in the roof of Fire Station 19, as well as debris inside. The firehouse had been closed for remodeling, according to the department.

"Personnel expect to be able to return to the station in the next month or so, assuming there are no unexpected developments," the department said in an online update last week. "Rest assured that we are taking every measure possible to return your local fire station to full service, while also ensuring optimal living conditions for the men and women who work there."

No one was hurt by the wreckage, the union said.
