COLUMBIA, MO. – Noonlight, an IoT and connected safety platform, has partnered with Nest Protect and other smart home devices to bring the fire department straight to residents' doors in case of heavy smoke or high carbon monoxide levels within their homes. Noonlight's platform allows first responders to know exactly where people are and what is happening so they get the right help, right away.

“Noonlight provides comfort and safety for residents at home and on the go. Real people monitor Noonlight alarms, so homeowners can get help even if they are unaware or unable to respond to the alarms themselves,” said Matt Johnson, Noonlight's chief operating officer.

Smart devices and smart safety platforms like Noonlight can reduce false alarms by using data analytics as well as real human operators to determine whether an incident is a real emergency or simply a case of burnt toast. False alarms happen often; therefore, Noonlight users can easily cancel a request by entering their PIN in the Noonlight app.

Fire departments can showcase the benefits of smart home technologies to save lives and property. If residents integrate their home IoT devices into Noonlight, the platform can provide first responders with live video from inside the household as well as temperature, air quality and occupancy data from sensors placed around the home.

All of that data is available to first responders through a secure web-based interface at the time of the alarm. With this technology, a first responder with a smartphone or web-enabled mobile data terminal can view this life-saving information in real time. This capability offers public safety officials greater access to contextual information about emergencies, which was previously unavailable or siloed.

"If you have a home environment without the capabilities of new smart devices, there is simply not the same ability to alert the homeowner and first responders to danger with the same speed and specificity that smart devices can provide," said Johnson.
