Oct. 25--Firefighters guided by a thermal imaging camera rescued a woman from a burning home Saturday evening in east Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 8:02 p.m. at 202 N.E. 175th Ave., and fire crews arrived at 8:07 p.m., said Vancouver firefighter-spokesman Jim Flaherty.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke when they entered the house and activated the imaging camera, which revealed a woman lying unconscious on the floor. They extricated her and administered first aid until an ambulance arrived.
The woman, whose name was not available, was transported to a local hospital, Flaherty said. The nature or severity of her injuries was not available.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes, Flaherty said.
The extent of the damage had not been determined, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The ranch-style house had been built in 1990 and is owned by Douglas J. Carothers, according to county property records.
