ROBERT BURKE

Robert Burke is the Fire Marshal for the University of Maryland. He is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFSP), Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor III, Fire Investigator, and Hazardous Materials Specialist, and has served on state and county hazardous materials response teams. He is a veteran of twenty-four years in fire and emergency services, with experience in career and volunteer departments. He has attained the rank of lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and served as a Deputy State Fire Marshal. He is an adjunct instructor at the National Fire Academy and the Community College of Baltimore, Catonsville Campus. He is the author of books titled "Hazardous Materials Chemistry For Emergency Responders" and "Counter-Terrorism for Emergency Responders". The Hazmat Studies was started back in 1995 with bi-monthly articles about hazardous Materials and terrorism. Articles will be placed on line about a month following publication of the print edition.

Currently there are five articles from 1994, 1995 & 2002 on the site. In the coming months the archives will be complete with all articles from 1994 to present. Please check back often!!
