Just under 800 people live in the village of LaFarge, WI, and Lyle Dorschied is a well-known leader in this town. He has served as volunteer firefighter for 41 years and his dedication to his local community has earned Lyle the 2014 Liberty Mutual Insurance National Firemark Award for Community Service. In his time on the LaFarge fire department Lyle has selflessly performed his duties as an engine navigator/driver. But his contributions extend far beyond firefighting. Lyle often organizes fundraisers for the fire department and the community at large, once helping to raise $70,000 in one day for a fellow firefighter’s cancer treatment.
