investigation regarding the three fatalities in Monday's air tanker
crash near the town of Walker, California.
The three crew members were employees of the private company Hawkins
& Powers Aviation out of Wyoming, which was contracted to do aerial
firefighting by the Forest Service.
The captain was identified as Steven Ray Wass, aged 42 from
Gardnerville, NV, who had been with the company since 1981. The
co-pilot was Craig Labare, aged 36 from Loomis, CA, with the company
since 1997; and the flight engineer was Michael Harlow Davis, aged 59
from Bakersfield, CA, with the company since 1998.
A spokeswoman at Hawkins & Powers said the company does not have any
further information to release about the crew, but added that Labare
and Davis leave behind wives.
