Sterling, Va., Volunteers Get Two New Pumpers

The Sterling Volunteer Fire Department has taken delivery of two Smeal Fire Apparatus pumpers built on Spartan Gladiator cabs and chassis with Waterous 1,500-gpm pumps and 750-gallon tanks.

The Sterling Volunteer Fire Department has taken delivery of two Smeal Fire Apparatus pumpers built on Spartan Gladiator cabs and chassis with Waterous 1,500-gpm pumps and 750-gallon tanks.

They are powered by Cummins 450-hp engines, Allison Transmission, and Rudd automatic chains.

Other equipment includes Robinson R.O.M. roll-up doors, UPF tanks, with 20-gallon foam cells, FoamPro 2002 foam system, and a hose bed with 200 feet of 3-inch hose, 200 feet in the 1.75-inch, 1,050 4-inch, 500 feet of 3-inch, 200 feet of 2.5-inch hose.

The also have Harrison 8,000-watt generator, 5-inch front suction, and Whelen scene and warning lights and a Roto-Ray warning light.

It was sold by Keplinger Repair Service, Winchester, Va.
