Delivery: Lihue, HI, Airport Pumper

Sept. 8, 2022
The Pierce Quantum pumper was built for Kauai’s Airport of Lihue and is named Waíākāne, “God of water."

Pierce built this pumper for the Island of Kauai’s Airport of Lihue for the Hawaii State DOT Airports Division.

The Quantum pumper includes a 1,500-gpm PUC pump, a 750-gallon water tank and 100-gallon foam cell.

The rig has an around-the-pump foam system that allows foam to be supplied to all discharges.

A turret mounted on the front bumper is controlled by a remote control from inside the apparatus.

The bright color was selected because it is known to be the most visible color at airports.

The pumper is named Waíākāne, which means “Waters of Kāne” or “God of water."
