Former Boston firefighter David Sanchez was convicted of assault and battery and other charges in connection with an incident at a city firehouse in April 2018.

A former Boston firefighter who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at a fire station was given two years probation Friday.

David Sanchez was convicted last week of indecent assault and battery on a person older than 14 and on assault and battery. According to police, Sanchez attempted to kiss a woman at a Boston firehouse in April 2018 and then assaulted her before she was able to escape, WCVB reports.

"For two years, I relived what happened that night over and over again trying to find out how I was as responsible," the victim said during Sanchez's sentencing. "For two years, there was no medication that could heal my depression."

During sentencing, Sanchez's attorney told the court that his client is a Marine who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, WCVB adds.
