Suspected Drunk Driver Hits N.J. Fire Police Officer
WHITE TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A suspected drunk driver hit an elderly fire police officer this morning (Aug. 1) according to the The Star-Ledger.
Charles Christine, 86, of the Belvidere Fire Police, was assisting at a road where power lines were down. While leaning against a pickup truck around midnight, a car driven by Daniel Tigue, 23, crashed into the truck, authorities told The Star-Ledger.
Christine was knocked to the ground and suffered head and arm injuries. He was transferred to Saint Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa. and was listed in fair condition.
Tigue was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and driving while intoxicated.
