ORLANDO, Fla. --

One person was hospitalized on Monday after an early-morning fire in Orlando.

Darrin Weeks said he was sleeping when his dog jumped on his bed and woke him up. When he awoke, Weeks said he smelled smoke.

"My dog woke me up and saved my life, you know. He got everything situated, and I was proud of him. I'm going to give him a steak tomorrow," Weeks said.

Weeks said he's hard of hearing, and his dog does just about everything for him. The dog is specially trained to help those with hearing problems.

Weeks went next door to save a neighbor from the blaze. The neighbor was transported to a hospital for treatment.
