Denver Fire Sends 24 People Fleeing

Firefighters said a fire in a chimney was suspected as the source of the blaze.

An fire at a southeast Denver apartment building forced 24 people out into the cold overnight.

The blaze broke out just after midnight at the Cherry Creek Green apartments in the 10000 block of East Girard Avenue.

At least three of the 16 apartments suffered smoke and fire damage, but there were no reports of injuries.

Firefighters said a fire in a chimney was suspected as the source of the blaze.

The two-story building housed 16 apartments.
