New Hampshire Crews Tackle Three-Alarmer
STRATHAM -- Firefighters from around the Seacoast responded to a three-alarm structure fire at 54 Stratham Heights Road this morning.
At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown, according to Stratham Fire Chief Robert Law. No one was in the home when the fire began. A call to 911 was placed around 9:30 a.m. by a neighbor, Tom Garrity, who saw the smoke.
According to Garrity, the fire seemed to be coming from between the house and the garage. When fire departments arrived at the scene, he said, they broke down the front door and entered the home that way.
Departments from Stratham, Exeter, Newfields and other towns, worked at attacking the blaze from different sides of the house.
An hour later, firefighters were working to control the blaze by using pike poles to pull down parts of the ceiling in the garage. A part of the roof was cut away with a chain saw to allow more water in the home to fight the fire.
