Couple Rescued from Oklahoma City House Fire
Oklahoma City firefighters got an early start to their Tuesday, battling flames at a house near Northwest 15th Street and Indiana Avenue, fire officials said.
Crews were called to the house at about 3 a.m., but officials said the two people inside made it out OK thanks to the warning from a passerby.
The family said they just moved into the house last Friday and were sound asleep with the fire started. They said a stranger driving by saw the smoke and started to bang on the back door to awaken anybody who might have been home.
"And, I came to the back door, opened the back door up, and he was at the back door and said, 'Ya'll need to come out. The house is on fire,'" said Greg Davis, whose house caught on fire.
The man who rescued the family said his only thought was to make sure nobody was inside the house.
"My first thought was to get all the people out of there. That was my first thought," said Miguel Padron.
Crews said they believe the fire started in the garage. As for how it started, investigators said they're still looking into it.
