New Savannah Chief Named

Charles Middleton is currently the division chief with the Orange County Florida Fire and Rescue Department.

Savannah city manager Michael Brown has announced a new fire chief. They've appointed Charles Middleton, who is currently the division chief with the Orange County Florida Fire and Rescue Department, where he supervises a 1,000-member fire and emergency medical service with 35 stations serving 1,000 square miles around Orlando.

The Savannah native graduated from Groves High School and grew up on Ferrill Street.

Middleton takes command on August 7. He'll be paid $101,000 per year.
