Infant Dies, Child Injured In Kentucky House Fire
Juan Pablo Estrada, who would have turned 7 months old Wednesday, died in a fire Tuesday night that broke out shortly after 10 p.m. CST, Bowling Green Fire Chief Gerry Brown said. His older brother, whose name was not released, was taken to Nashville, Tenn., for treatment, Brown said.
Firefighters arrived to find flames coming out the front door and the side windows. Brown said an overloaded circuit and an electrical heater are the probable causes of the fire.
Two teenagers who were visiting a nearby friend helped the children's mother, Nelly Estrada, out of the burning house, Brown said. Her husband was not at home at the time of the blaze.
Nick Connelly, 19, and Keaton May, 15, said they were outside, heard someone yelling for help, and responded as best they could. They helped get the 7-year-old out, but could not get to the infant.
``I just remember her begging me to go back in and get her little kid, her little baby, but I couldn't,'' Connelly said. ``I wish they got the kid out.''
