Two Children Die in Barry County, Missouri Fire
EAGLE ROCK, Mo. (AP) -- Two young children died Monday morning in a fire at a mobile home in the Table Rock Lake community of Eagle Rock, Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly said.
The sheriff said the fire was reported about 6 a.m., and that both children were dead at the scene. He said their parents suffered injuries and smoke inhalation and were flown to a hospital in Springfield.
The victims were 2 and 3 years old, the sheriff said.
Rod Linn, who owns the Express Mart convenience store near the Shoreline Campground mobile home park, said one of the victims was a boy, the other a girl. He said the woman who owns the mobile home park told him the two children had died.
``I don't cry much but I did this morning,'' he said. ``It's pretty rough.''
Epperly said the cause of the fire hadn't been determined. A state fire marshal and the county coroner were at the scene, the sheriff said.
