You sometimes hear the stories of dogs doing heroic things to warn or save their masters. But a dog in Winchester is getting the blame for starting a house fire.

The Winchester Sun quotes a fire report that says a dog jumped onto a stove to eat food left in a skillet and turned on a burner in the process.

There was fire damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to the rest of the house on Berry Court.

The fire was extinguished by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.
