MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- FitzBradshaw withdrew its No. 82 Chevrolet from the Busch Series race this weekend after a fire destroyed a backup vehicle, crew uniforms, helmets, tools and other equipment.

The fire broke out Monday in a transporter carrying the car to Homestead-Miami Speedway. Team officials said the primary car, which was to be driven Saturday by Randy Lajoie, was saved.

``The most important thing is that no one was hurt,'' said Armando Fitz, who co-owns the team with former NFL quarterback Terry Bradshaw. ``It's unfortunate that we have to withdraw our entry, but I've spoken with the sponsor and we feel that it is in everyone's best interest.''

The fire took place on I-95, about 200 miles north of Miami.

The transporter for FitzBradshaw's No. 14 Chevrolet was behind the No. 82 transporter when smoke was first noticed. The drivers pulled the truck into a rest area and fire officials put out the blaze, which apparently started in an electrical panel.

The team will still enter cars for Tim Fedewa and Casey Atwood in Saturday's Ford 300.
