Fillmore Fire Protection District Donation Information
The Fillmore Community Fire Protection District is struggling to get back into service after losing all of its equipment in a fire Tuesday night.
Firefighter Mike McKinney, the department's scretary/treasurer and spokesman, said they do have insurance but are waiting to find out how much the insurance will cover.
The department is running EMS again thanks to a rescue vehicle on loan from the Hillsboro Fire Department. They also have two engines on loan from Lake Zurich and Nokomis, but will remain dependent on mutual aid for fire protection until they can replace some of their equipment.
McKinney said the department's greatest need is for bunker gear, especially in larger sizes in the 40s and 50s, as well as gloves, nomex hoods, boots, SCBA, and any kind of hand tools.
"If we could get some of that stuff we'd be good to go," McKinney said.
Anyone interested in loaning or donating equipment can reach Firefighter Mike McKinney at 217-538-2607.
