Texas firefighters out for a cold treat wound up with nothing more than a cold shoulder from a Dairy Queen.
The crew from Harris County were asked to leave by the owner who said it was bad publicity for a fire truck to be parking in the front parking lot, according to KHOU.
"I did not feel welcome last night," said Ponderosa Fire Dept. engineer James Dickerson..
"We kind of were hurt in a way. We just wanted some ice cream. We’re firefighters. We try to do great for the community and here we are being asked to leave from a restaurant," Dickerson told reporters.
The DQ owner told reporters it was a misunderstanding.
"We definitely want firefighters to eat here," said owner Pooya Hejazi adding that while out of town another owner had replaced him.
Hejazi called the Ponderosa Fire Department after the incident, and offered to treat the firefighters to a meal.
But, they haven't decided if they'll go back.
