N.Y. Firefighters Rescue Resident From Second-Floor Window

Sheridan Park volunteer firefighters rescued a resident from a second-floor window early Sunday .

Sheridan Park volunteer firefighters rescued a resident from a second-floor window early Sunday morning while battling a blaze inside a multiunit apartment building in the Town of Tonawanda.

Dispatchers received a report of a possible fire at 45 Balzac Court at 6:41 a.m., and firefighters spotted smoke coming out a second-story window.

Paramedics attended to the victim at the scene.

The fire was believed to have started in the kitchen.

Residents of 43 and 47 Balzac Court were evacuated from their homes, as well, and the Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross was called in to assist.
