Millbury Deputy Fire Chief David Rudge was honored with a parade of vehicles featuring colleagues, family and friends on his last day after 47 years in the fire service.
 
“It's time to go. It's time to retire," said the president of Augusta's firefighters union, who held a press conference asking for Chief Chris James to either step down or be fired.
 
Granby Fire Chief John Mitchell has been suspended for 30 days without pay for operating a town-owned vehicle at a "dangerous" speed and putting firefighters in danger.
 
"It feels good, and it doesn't, at the same time," said Poquonnock Bridge Fire Chief Joseph Winski about his retirement after starting his fire service career in 1969 when he was 16.
