Pa. Firefighter Dies During Training
A firefighter in Somerset County died yesterday after being rushed to the hospital from a training exercise, according to The Daily American.
Firefighter John Palomino, a volunteer with the Scalp Level and Paint Volunteer Fire Company in Windber, was taken to Miners Medical Center in Hastings where he was pronounced dead.
Palomino, who's in his late 40s according to the report, was taking the basic essentials firefighting class at the Cambria County Fire School. He joined the fire company last fall and the 166-hour course is a requirement for any new member who wants to fight fires.
Pete Long, the first deputy Cambria County Coroner, told the newspaper that a cause of death will be determined Sunday pending an autopsy.
