Connecticut Firefighter Dies of Complications

March 5, 2009

A Connecticut firefighter/EMT died recently following complications from surgery for an injury sustained while on a call.

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Charles Myshrall, 67, a member of North Coventry Vol. Fire Dept.

Myshrall fell in a driveway on Jan. 30 after assisting on an EMS call. He was transported to a hospital where doctors determined he tore his quadriceps muscle from the ligaments connecting it to the knee. He underwent surgery on Feb. 3.

He was recuperating at home when he died Feb. 26 of complications from the surgery, according to the USFA.

Myshrall had been involved in the fire service for 26 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Coventry Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 337, Coventry, CT 06238 or the charity of your choice.
