FL Firefighter Takes Own Life While On Duty

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue firefighter Joseph Deltergo, 45, committed suicide while working at the department's Loxahatchee Acreage station Monday.

A Florida firefighter committed suicide while on duty Monday, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue firefighter Joseph Deltergo, 45, took his own life while on duty at the fire station, the USFA stated in an alert Wednesday. Sheriff's deputies were called to investigate a shooting at the department's Station 26 in Loxahatchee Acreage, WPTV-TV reports, but no other details have been released about the incident.

Deltergo had served 16 years in the fire service.
