PA Firefighter Dies after Returning Home from Emergency Call

Ellsworth firefighter Laron Holcomb responded to a motor vehicle accident call Saturday and fell ill after returning home.

Ellsworth firefighters are mourning the loss of a firefighter who died after responding to a call.

Laron Holcomb responded to a motor vehicle accident at Route 136 and Morrison Lane around 1:30 p.m., according to WPXI.com.

Holcomb, 73, complained of shortness of breath after he got home and was taken to the hospital, WTAE.com reported.

He passed away at the hospital and the Washington County Coroner's office will determine the cause of death.

Holcomb was the captain of the fire department's fire police unit.

"Laron was very dedicated volunteer for the Ellsworth vfd keeping all of our members safe on fire scenes," the fire department shared on Facebook. "No matter what Laron was doing if you needed him he would drop everything to come help you. He was like a father to all of our young members. Laron you will be missed. We got it from here."
