Today we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were lost 18 years ago on 9/11, including 343 FDNY firefighters along with 37 Port Authority and 23 NYPD officers. We must also strive to support those who responded in the aftermath and are battling serious career-related illnesses today.

Just ahead of today's anniversary, the head of New York City's firefighters’ union asked Americans to simply “Take a moment. Think about it. Say a prayer."

Haverford Township and Bon Air Fire Company officials reached an agreement to reinstate the department as long as it makes certain changes.

The Baltimore City firefighters union is urging lawmakers to retract a newly introduced response policy, claiming it "puts citizens and firefighters lives in jeopardy."
