Today, as we pause and remember the 2,996 people killed on Sept. 11, 2001, including the 343 FDNY firefighters, we also remember all of those who have died from 9/11 health-related illnesses since then.
Did you know that the number of FDNY firefighters killed by 9/11 health-related illnesses has now surpassed the number of those killed that day? Or that the number of people who died after volunteering, working or living near Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11 has surpassed the number of people killed in the attacks? Or that every year, more names are added to the World Trade Center Memorial Wall?
Please take a moment to reflect, remember and honor our heroes.
Stay safe!
