About 150 firefighters were battling an out-of-control wildfire just north of the New Mexico state line Monday morning.
Fire officials said the blaze has charred about 6,000 acres in the Spanish Peaks just west of the town of Aguilar, Colo.
Officials said five homes have been burned and more than 200 families have been evacuated. Residents of Aguilar are on standby for evacuations.
Extremely dry conditions and high winds are fueling the blaze.
Crews said the fire is about 5 percent contained.
