SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A fireworks-caused blaze was declared contained Monday night after burning 1,100 acres of cheat grass and shrubs south of Dugway.

Firefighters were pulled off the blaze for the night, and just a few hand crews were expected to be sent in Tuesday to take care of hot spots, Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Erin Darboven said.

She said the fire, about 40 miles west of Salt Lake City, was started at 5 p.m. Sunday by a bottle rocket.

Investigators had no suspects.

Darboven said it cost about $150,000 to fight the fire.

Elsewhere in the state, a 500-acre lightning-caused fire near Vance Springs in the Needle mountains of northwest Beaver County still was burning somewhat within the control lines.
