Multiple FL Departments Battle 3-Alarm Fire that Injures Man

About 80 firefighters responded to a blaze that destroyed two gulf-front homes and damaged two others in Hudson, as well as sending one person to the hospital with severe burns.

HUDSON, FLFire destroyed two gulf-front homes, damaged two others and sent one person to the hospital on Monday, officials said.

Pasco County Fire Rescue received a 9-1-1 call about 6 a.m. Monday about a house fire along the 6500 block of Driftwood Drive in the Driftwood Isle neighborhood, according to a news release. When fire crews arrived, they found three homes on fire and the flames fanned by heavy winds.

One person with severe burns was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital.

Two of the homes were destroyed and two others were damaged, fire rescue officials said. Several vehicles were also damaged or destroyed. Aerial video captured by WFLA, Ch. 8 showed two neighboring homes that had burned to the ground.

About 80 firefighters from Pasco County Fire Rescue, Hernando County Fire Rescue and New Port Richey Fire Rescue responded to the fire and were still working Monday morning to put out hot spots.

Property records show one of the homes that was destroyed, at 6535 Driftwood Drive, is owned by William and Wendy Fairhurst,

Reached by phone Monday morning, Wendy Fairhurst said her son was the person injured in the fire, and she couldn’t talk because she was on the way to the hospital.
