Smoke Bomb Injures Three at Fla. Haunted House

Oct. 30--PANAMA CITY -- At least three people suffered minor injuries Saturday night when a smoke bomb was set off at the Jaycees Haunted House at 200 E. Beach Drive. Emergency medical personnel, firefighters and police officers responded to the scene after the call came in at about 9:45 p.m. According to Panama City Police Sgt. David Blaich, at least two females suffered smoke inhalation and a male who grabbed the smoke bomb received a burned hand. None of the injuries was believed serious.

According to Panama City Police Sgt. David Blaich, at least two females suffered smoke inhalation and a male who grabbed the smoke bomb received a burned hand. None of the injuries was believed serious.

Blaich said it is unknown who set off the smoke bomb, but that it was not part of the Haunted House.

Some 50 to 60 people inside the building evacuated. Many of them, dressed in Halloween costumes, stood outside the building after the incident waiting for rides home, as authorities continued to investigate.

Saturday night was the final night for this year's Jaycees fundraiser, which is held annually to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County and the Marine Institute.
