Neighbors Pull Man From Burning Home in Wash. State
RENTON, Wash. --
Neighbors pulled a man from his burning house on Lake Desire east of Renton Friday morning.
The fire broke out at about 4 a.m.and quickly escalated to two alarms. Firefighters had difficulty reaching the home on the narrow, wooded road.
When neighbors realized the house was aflame, they rushed to rescue the one man who lived in the house.
The man inside was able to break a window before neighbors located him, then lost sight of him again, before pulling him from the house, fearing he was dead, rescuers told KIRO 7.
"(I said) 'Ron, Ron, don't do this, keep in there, just hang in there! We're right there, we're going to get you out." said Nick Vacca III.
"The rush of air got him (breathing) again, from the window or what, but all of a sudden he's at the window where I can grab him, and then this lieutenant -- I don't know his name -- he's still down there at the house, and we grab him -- and then my son, and my other neighbors, Patrick and Brian -- we picked him up and dragged him from the house," said rescuer Nick Vacca.
The man was black with smoke as firefighters treated him before he was transported to the hospital. His condition is not known.
Video from Chopper 7 showed smoke rising from the home hours after the fire erupted.
