NC Fire Chief Dies After Responding to Car Crash

A 54-year-old fire chief with more than 30 years experience with the Severn, NC, Vol. Fire Department has died after suffering a medical emergency shortly after returning from duty at an auto crash.
According to local television station WRAL5, Fire Chief Kevin Britt was at home when he suffered a medical emergency around midnight Saturday night. He had just returned from responding to an emergency call involving a car that crashed into a light pole, the television station reported.
The chief was a firefighter with Severn, near the NC and VA border, for more than 30 years, according to the television station, which also reported that his son, Joshua Britt, is also a member of the fire department.
